Getting around Alanya on vacation

So I'm finally taking that trip to Alanya next month. Planning to spend some time on the beach obviously, but I've also been reading about all these ancient ruins scattered around the area. There's supposed to be old fortresses, temples, all that historical stuff. I really want to explore those places and get a feel for the history, you know, actually see something beyond just the hotel pool. Question is, what should I rent to get around once I'm there? What are the usual rental conditions for transport?

Man, you picked a solid spot for combining beach and history. Alanya's got layers, literally thousands of years of them sitting right there in the open. The thing is, a lot of those sites are spread out along the coast and up in the hills. You could try walking everywhere, but in that heat you'll be dead by noon and you'll have seen maybe one castle. Driving gives you freedom to hit multiple spots in a day, stop whenever something looks interesting, take detours down random coastal roads. Just make sure you've got an international license sorted before you go, most places want to see that along with your regular one. Insurance is usually included but double-check what they cover.

Here's the thing though, cars kind of numb the whole experience. You're stuck behind glass with the AC on, missing half of what makes the place worth visiting.
